For a change of pace, you might decide to head inland to Dorrigo, where nature truly takes centre stage. It’s like stepping into another world with the towering trees and the sound of waterfalls in the air. If your kids love being outside, this place is an absolute gem. Dorrigo National Park, with its famous Skywalk lookout with stunning views over the rainforest, will leave everyone in awe. A number of the walks are manageable for kids, and there is something very magical about being surrounded by so much green.

Further along the coast still heading north, you will find the much loved Byron Bay with its stunning beaches and relaxed vibe, there’s plenty to keep kids entertained. You can start the day by exploring the sheltered, calm waters of Wategos Beach, then onto Cape Byron Headland to see the iconic lighthouse.
